A Community Made of Boaters (well, mostly)
DeCourcy has a wonderful community with many of the residents having owned property here since around the time the island was originally developed by Fred Russell in the late 1960’s and 1970’s.
DeCourcy Island is a playground for all of us. For all of us who like to chop wood, tinker with our ‘systems’, fix our cabins, and build our forts. To essentially play, waiting for someone to tell us it is time to come in. To play, while we explain it away to friends and family as work.
There are many residents that call DeCourcy home on a year round basis, while many more are weekenders, summer residents or just like to drop in now and then. We have a very well established and professionally trained volunteer fire department and a very active community association (DICA).
